Harpenden choir The Lea Singers' Choral Discoveries series continues with a celebration of the English composer and singer Kim Porter.

 

In 2023, the Lea Singers commissioned Der Fluss based on the words of Herman Hesse's Siddharta, and the Leas are honoured to be performing this once again, complimented by two other Porter choral works, Flow My Tears and Pulchra es et Decora. Accompanying Porter's works will be Palestrina's evocative and quintessential motet Super Flumina Babylonis, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi's lively and demanding Four Shakespeare Songs, alongside Her Sacred Spirit Soars by Grammy-award winning composer Eric Whitacre, with a finale of Hubert Parry's masterpiece of unaccompanied choral writing, Songs of Farewell. 

Come along to St George's School, Harpenden for drinks from 6pm, with the concert beginning in the Chapel at 6.30pm. Tickets are available from leasingers.co.uk
