Harpenden town council Welcomes new Mayor and deputy mayor


Harpenden Town Council’s Annual Council Meeting took place on 13th May 2024. This is the first meeting of the Council’s Municipal Year and included election of the new Town Mayor, Cllr Pip Liver, and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Gill Haynes.

The Mayoral Chain was presented to the new Town Mayor by Cllr Fiona Gaskell, Past Town Mayor of Harpenden for 2023/24, who gave a valedictory speech and offered her congratulations to Cllr Liver on her new position. Cllr Liver in return presented the Past Town Mayor’s Badge, Certificate and Album to Cllr Gaskell.

Harpenden Town Mayor, Cllr Pip Liver, said It is a privilege to become Mayor of Harpenden and an honour to serve its people. I am very much looking forward to supporting our community and representing the Town Council throughout the year.”

Community Grant Awarded to much-loved Hedgehog Sanctuary

Harpenden Town Council was delighted to recently award a Community Grant to Hornbeam Wood Hedgehog Sanctuary, a charity which rehabilitates wild hedgehogs and orphaned baby hoglets that are sick, injured, or underweight.

Memory Lane Cafe - new activities announced this Autumn

A new Memory Lane Cafe schedule of activities has been announced for this Autumn. The Harpenden Memory Lane Café is open every Monday from 2-3.30pm at The Salvation Army on Leyton Green in Harpenden.
